The House Plus skates are for mini-mites and super mites. The focus of the skates will be skating skills and puck handling skills, along with small area games so all the players can get lots of puck touches in a game environment.
The skating skills will focus on edge work, agility ( quick turns ) and speed.
The puck handling skills will focus on basic puck handling and stress playing with their head up.
All sessions will be led by our travel professionals. These skates are in addition to the regular Mighty Mite and Super Mite house team skates on these dates.

The Sleds Are Coming!!
GLASA TO HOST ANNUAL “SLEDS ARE COMING” EXHIBITION & COMPETITION
Para-Athletes to Break the Ice at Winter Sled Hockey Game in Lake Forest, Feb. 2, 2025
(LAKE FOREST, IL – January __, 2025) The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) and the Lake Forest College Athletic Department will co-host the 14 th annual “Sleds Are Coming” exhibition sled hockey event at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse & Ice Rink at Lake Forest College, 2-3:30 pm. The event is open to the public and admission is free. Doors open at 1:30
p.m. The rink is handicap accessible.
"The Sleds Are Coming" will bring community exposure to GLASA and showcase its sled hockey program featuring the GLASA Falcons. Community members, students, and staff can watch and
cheer on a talented group of athletes. Currently, GLASA together with its local community partner, Falcons Hockey Association, has one competitive adult team, one recreational adult team and are currently working to build a youth team.
The on-ice competition will consist of three 12-minute periods of 5-on-5 sled hockey featuring members of the GLASA Falcons, coached by Lake Forest residents Andy Burkhart and Mike
Reinhardt.
“Just like the conventional game, sled hockey is an exciting, fast-paced sport with rules that are similar to traditional hockey,” said Burkhart. “Our players use sleds and sticks to propel them
across the ice and follow many of the same rules for traditional hockey like legal body contact and raised puck shooting.
Sled hockey, also known as para ice hockey, is a direct descendant of ice hockey, Para ice hockey was invented at a rehabilitation center in Stockholm, Sweden, during the early 196Os by a group of Swedes who, despite their physical disabilities, were determined to continue playing the sport.
The adult competitive team finished 3rd overall at Nationals in 2024, won the Tier 2 Heartland League Championship in 2023, was the runner up in the National Championship in 2018 and
placed first in 2017 and 2013. The youth competitive team were the 2015 National Champions.
The event will also feature:

Just over two weeks ago, we were celebrating the 76 year career of a true legend… a man who LOVED every single day. He loved his family, he loved his friends, he loved hockey and every single player that set foot on the ice. But those who knew him well also know that he loved every bowl of soup that he ever had, he loved sitting on his couch upstairs and letting the sun hit him in the face, he loved sitting on his chair in the garage, greeting every neighbor as they came in and out of the neighborhood. He loved that everyone at McDonald’s, CVS, Chase Bank and Great Clips knew him by name and went out of their way to take care of him. He loved the breakfast sandwiches that his wife Darlene made for him every single morning, he loved the start of hockey season and he loved seeing people succeed in hockey or in any other aspect of their life. He LOVED LIFE!
On October 3rd Wally passed away and we are all devastated. To honor his memory, find love in the little things today…enjoy a bowl of soup, appreciate the sunlight shining on your face, introduce yourself to someone that you wouldn’t otherwise, spend a special moment with someone and just love the moment for what it is because you never know when those moments will end. The hockey community loved you Wally and we will miss you.
