    GOVERNOR'S ANNOUCEMENT ON JULY 29, 2020

    TO OUR MEMBERSHIP

WHILE WE ALL DIGEST THE GOVERNOR'S PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY, WE ALL NEED TO TAKE A BREATH.

MANY THINGS CAN CHANGE PRIOR TO AUGUST 15TH.  IN ANY CASE WE WILL ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.

WE WILL SEND YOU CONSTANT UPDATES AS WE KNOW THEM AND WE ALL MUST REMAIN FLEXIBLE (& HEALTHY) DURING THESE STRANGE TIMES.

AT THE ABSOLUTE LEAST, KNOW YOUR PLAYER WILL RECEIVE THE BEST HOCKEY INSTRUCTION IN THE STATE THANKS TO A SECOND TO NONE COACHING STAFF!

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED AS WE MOVE FORWARD

    FAQs:

    1. The Governor announced as of 8/15 Hockey can only have no contact practices and conditioning.  How does this affect FHA and all other hockey clubs?

As the Governor's policy even states this will change with conditions.  Honestly, we never expected to play actual league games until at least 10/1.  We do hope this stays the same as conditions hopefully improve.

FHA is best prepared to handle this moving target.  We have the best coaches and families.

    2. If (again if) we can only practice and drill for the foreseeable future will this be fun for my player?

All kids need activity and an outlet during this very stressful time.  As parents, we all need to create as much normalcy as we possibly can.

As we did in Spring, we will make sure your player has an amazing experience that is fun, challenging, and a great form of exercise and relief of stress.  We also promise your player, whatever guidelines we must follow, will finish this season a better hockey player and most importantly a happier person.

    3. Do you think the kids will get to play?

We do expect the kids to get to play.  As we progress through the levels FHA is best prepared for intra and inter squad scrimmages.  Thankfully, we have the depth and numbers to allow highly competitive scrimmages.

Additionally, we do expect league to happen eventually.

    4.  Can parents watch?

As a club, we are currently not allowing spectators.  However, this is up to the individual facilities.  We can tell you LFA, LFC and CIA will have Live Barn available.

Please remember the most important thing is our children get to participate in an activity they love.

    5. What about fees?

At FHA your fees cover our outstanding professional coaching staff and ice fees.  This allows your player to get the best training and instruction available while becoming better people from participating in the ultimate team sport.  Our players learn success comes from hard work and dedication, sportsmanship, tolerance and caring of others.

You will still be receiving 100+ hours of training, conditioning and instruction from the best coaching staff in the Country.  You will not be charged any additional costs (slush, travel expenses, etc) until actual play begins.

Furthermore, we have an extended payment plan so we can shut off payments if the conditions worsen.

    6. How can I tell the Governor I disagree with his decision?

Please email the Governor if you want to give your opinion using this link: CLICK HERE

See you at the rink and stay healthy!!!!!

THE PASSING OF ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Real Turcotte after a battle with CHF.  Real was born in East Angus Quebec in 1940.  He attended primary school in Quebec before attending Michigan State University on a hockey scholarship.  While at MSU he studied math and received a degree in teaching.  He taught high school math and relaxation classes for many years in the Lansing area while driving his sons to hockey in Waterford.  Real shared his love of the game and taught the Art of Stickhandling to thousands of young children and adults for over 50 years.  A true pioneer in teaching hockey and individual skill development while creating the youth hockey program in the Detroit area in the 1970's.  Real gave opportunity to young men and women to play at a high level of hockey from AAA to juniors, college level, Olympians and Pros.  A humble, kind and gentle man who had a fierce determination to win with his skill development and moves.  Real is survived by his wife Carol, sons Alfie (Colleen) Jeff (Kim) step children Lindsay and Matthew. Grandchildren Nicolas, Gabrielle, Alex, Cooper, Jennifer (Brian) Tara, Tanner, Kensley, Elizabeth and great grandchildren Ty and Brody Gibbons.  Beloved sister Cecile (Bruce) Rejean (Clair) Pierre (Marie-Claude) and several nephews and nieces.
The family will honor Real's wishes with a private service but would like to remind you to "practice your moves 10 minutes a day".
Condolences may be sent to the family:

CONGRATULATIONS RYAN TAYLOR & PLEASE WELCOME TOM BOUDREAU

FHA is pleased to announce Ryan Taylor has become the General Manger of Hockey Operations for the Falcons!  This is a well deserved and we could not be happier for Ryan and his family, FHA, and our membership.

With that we needed a new Central States Director.  We felt there was only one person we wanted for this position.  That person is Tom Boudreau.  We are thrilled to announce Tom Boudreau as the new Central States Director effective June 1, 2020.  Please give Tom and his family a warm FHA welcome when you see them at the rink.

Tom Boudreau is a level 4 USA Hockey coach and well known, highly sought after, professional skating/skills development coach.  After finishing a professional hockey career, he started giving back to the game serving as an assistant high school coach for the Lake Forest Scouts and as well as head coach for the '04 Vernon Hills Ice Dogs Central States team from 2011-2015.  Most recent, He has served as Director of Impact Elite Hockey Camps as well as Director of Player Development for the Chicago Young Americans. Tom currently continues to develop youth hockey players by running hockey camps and power skating/skills clinics for various players and organizations though his own Company, Boudreau Hockey.  He trains a wide variety of players ranging from youth Tier 1 and Tier 2 amateurs all the way to USHL, Canadian Junior, Division 1 Collegiate players and Professional Players
