Mite Registration

We hope you are looking forward to the 2026–27 season! We are excited to welcome both returning and new Falcons hockey families for another great year of Falcons Hockey.

We believe hockey is for everyone, and we are proud to offer programs for every skill level, including CSDHL, CUHL (Mites), and House. Based on feedback from our families, we have made several improvements for the 2026–27 season designed to maximize player development at every age and level.

Our core objective remains the development of our players both on and off the ice. This season, we’ve added more ice time, increased puck touches, and implemented more structured practices across all levels. Team sizes have also been adjusted to help maximize development opportunities and create a better overall player experience.

Ultimately, our goal is to foster an environment that supports individual growth, stronger team play, and a positive experience for every player in our program.

Below you will find additional information regarding enhancements to our Travel, House, and Goalie programs, along with season fees and uniform package details.

We remain committed to sustaining and evolving Falcons Hockey as a leader in Tier II hockey in Illinois. That commitment is driven by exceptional coaching, smaller team sizes, increased ice time, structured development, and ongoing player feedback. Our mission is to help build outstanding hockey players while fostering a lifelong love for the game.

We hope you will join us for the 2026–27 season by registering today. We look forward to seeing you on the ice!

TRAVEL

We are again targeting smaller roster sizes for the upcoming season. While final numbers may adjust based on registration totals, our current goal is 10–11 skaters per Mite team to maximize development opportunities and ensure increased ice time for every player.

Continuing the structure introduced last season, we have further expanded our development model by adding an extra practice session for each travel team every other week. All travel teams will now receive two team practices during the week, plus one Monday skills or small area games session. This results in a total of three on-ice development sessions per week for all travel teams and represents approximately a 20% increase in practice time compared to prior seasons.

The Monday skills and small area games sessions will follow a season-long development curriculum designed and implemented by our new Skills Director, Matt Ford of Ford Hockey School. In addition, teams will participate in regularly scheduled video sessions tailored to age-appropriate teaching points and game understanding.

By prioritizing skill development, team fit, and long-term player growth rather than age alone, this approach will help create stronger, more balanced teams across all levels. It also aligns our program with modern development models being used across top organizations, helping to reduce competitive mismatches while promoting a more consistent and positive experience for all players.

HOUSE

Our new Skills Director, Matt Ford, and our experienced Hockey Directors, Bob Heelan, Nick Meo and Tom Miller, will be directly involved in the early development of our players, including Learn to Skate, Mighty Mite, Super Mite, and in our House programs. We are also excited to have Chris Affinati running the weekly practices on the ice with players and volunteer coaches. These practices will be based on consistent weekly practice plans created by the Directors to ensure solid development for all players. Hockey Directors will be in attendance regularly, giving the kids the opportunity to learn from some of our best coaches.

We are excited to bring more structure and consistency to our early development and House programs, allowing players to learn, develop, have fun, and grow their love for the game!

GOALIE

FHA is excited to announce that in addition to the ongoing leadership by Goalie Director; Mark Passalino, we are continuing our partnership with Goalie Nation Academy (goalienationacademy.com). Goalie Nation is led by former NCAA D1 goalies with connections to the Falcons. Coaches will conduct age-specific goalie clinics every Monday. This scheduling will minimize conflicts and maximize the opportunity for clinic attendance. In addition to Monday clinics, goalie coaches will be on the ice for team practices in a rotating schedule throughout the season. Goalie coaches will also attend select games throughout the year. Furthermore, all goalies will receive goalie-specific video review sessions throughout the season.  Mental coaching and goalie specific teachings will be emphasized. Additional details of the full goalie offering will be communicated as we approach the season. We look forward to welcoming back coaches Evan Fear and Jon Mor. Look forward to welcoming some new faces of talented and vetted coaches soon.
