Coach Heredia's Team Takes 4th in State, President's Cup, 3rd in Wolves Cup

Falcons Squirt Bronze capped a successful season by defeating two Silver-level teams in the Blackhawk Cup and taking 4th in state. Previously the team had won the President's Cup in NIHL and had taken 3rd in the Wolves Cup.

The team was one of only three in NIHL (out of a total of 355 teams) to go undefeated in regular-season play. Its strength was a swarming defense with strong goaltenders and defensemen and vigorous back checking. Leading scorers were defenseman Niko Kempa and forward Justin Klonoski.

At state, the #7 seed Falcons upset higher-seeded Hawks and Bruins teams in the round robin. Goaltender Jill Hertl gave up only a single goal in the two games. She received strong support from defensemen Mason Richter, Casey Hippel, Benji Friedman, Aidan Hunt, and Niko Kempa. Other team members were Mark Deutschmann, Jake Faulkner, Trent Gill, Jaime Kaufman, Owen Lacy, Chris Moehlenpah, Andrew Munro, Jacob Qian, and Charlie Youdell.

"This team had no quit in it," said head coach Efren Heredia. "It was a very special group of players."
