    New Falcons Logo

    Dear Falcon Membership:

We hope you are enjoying the summer and staying cool but also beginning to think about hockey.  The 2014-2015 hockey season is fast approaching!  We are extremely excited about the upcoming season and welcome all returning and new hockey families.

The Hockey Professionals and Board have been working hard over the past few months to enhance our program.  We continue to invest and improve upon the already best coaching lineup in Illinois Youth Hockey.   The core objective is to continue focus on development of our players.  We believe hockey is for everyone and that is why we have a program for every skill level from CSDHL to a robust House Program. The combination of these offerings and our Hockey Professionals guarantee a wonderful experience for both player and parent. The Falcon's had a very successful season last year on many fronts and we look forward to building off these impressive accomplishments.

A few important details to please remember:

    ● Please make sure you have registered before attending a Travel Pre-Season Conditioning Skate or a House Skate.

    ● Please only attend a CSDHL try-out if you feel your player is skill appropriate.  CSDHL try-outs should not be considered "extra ice".  While we are not trying to exclude anyone from the CSDHL try-out process if our hockey professionals feel a player does not belong the player will not be allowed to complete the skate. We want to make sure the skill appropriate players are given the best opportunity to make the CSDHL teams.

    ● The Travel program has an exciting new uniform package!

We look forward to seeing you participate in another fantastic Falcons Fall/Winter Season!

    Yours truly

    Steven Dry, President

Midget Minors –  Head Coach Bryce Anderson, Anthony Ventura, Ryan Taylor

In pool play, The Minors went 3-0 to win the Liberty Bracket advancing to the Quarterfinals as the top seed.  This path involved winning games against Grundy Senators (38-14-6) from Bristol, PA by a score of 7-0, the #4 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Ashburn Xtreme (52-4-1) from Ashburn, VA by a score of 4-1, and the #1 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Tampa Scorpions (50-5-1) from Tampa, FL by a score of 3-2.  Our boys then beat the feisty Butler Valley Dawgs (37-10-4) from Gibsonia, PA by a score of 3-1 in the Elite 8 Quarterfinals.  Later that evening in the Final Four Semifinal game, the Falcons faced the #5 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (46-15-3) from Troy, MI.  Unfortunately, this featured the third time our Minors had seen them during the season despite beating them 6-4 and 4-3 in a Shootout.  Saturday night however, we lost 4-3.   Oakland became the eventual National Champion on Sunday with our Minors taking 3rd at Nationals U16 3A!

In addition to their huge success at the USA Hockey National Championships in the U16 3A division, our Midget Minors had a tremendous regular season as well.  Some, but not all, of their accomplishments were:

    *denotes consecutive year accomplishment

Midget Majors - Head Coach Bob Heelan, Joe Mirretti, Glenn Agrest

In pool play, the Majors went 3-0 to win the Liberty Bracket advancing to the Quarterfinals as the top seed.  This accomplishment involved winning games against #8 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) New York Center State Stampede, (30-4-2) from Morrisville, NY by a score of 3-0, the 2013 U16 3A National Champion Southern Connecticut Stars from Milford, CT by a score of 5-3, and the #1 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Warwick Wildcats (44-8-4) from Warwick, PA by a score of 9-2.  The boys then beat the #11 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Littleton Hawks (37-6-0) from Littleton, CO by a score of 5-2 in the Elite 8 Quarterfinals to advance to the Final Four.  Our boys went into the third period tied with the #3 Nationally Ranked (My Hockey) Delaware Ducks (40-10-3) but came up short and our season ended.  We did finish our season Saturday night taking 3rd in Nationals U18 3A!

In addition to the great success at the USA Hockey National Championships in the U18 3A division, our Midget Majors had a memorable season of accomplishments such as:

Please find the Falcons "Expectations for On-Ice Fundamentals" we shared at the Town Hall Meetings below. These fundamentals are great to share or review with your child. They receive much of this guidance from our hockey coaches and directors but this document will help reinforce the concepts as they develop as hockey players and individuals.

We hope this is helpful and please let us know if you have questions.

    Have a great Season!

    Centennial Ice Arena Board Advertisements

Falcons Hockey Association has partnered with the Park District of Highland Park to offer an exciting opportunity to adverting on the dasher boards at Centennial Ice Arena. The ads will be approximately 3FT x 8FT in size and be viewed by over 500,000 people annually. The cost is $2,000 for a year and includes the cost of printing the ad and installing it on the dasher board. All proceeds will benefit the Falcons Hockey Association and the Park District of Highland Park.

The number of advertisement boards are limited so act quicly and don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to have your company's logo viewed by thousand of local residents while supporting youth hockey.

If interested, please reach out to David Carlson at president@falconshockey.org.

Most of the coaches and dads associated with Falcons Hockey have gotten our kids involved in the game because we loved the sport as kids and still do as adults. Many of us still play. Now, we all have the opportunity to represent the Falcons as adults and practice what we preach (we hope!!)
